Play Reading

Two and a half hour sessions are planned and it is hoped to read one play per meeting with a little time for discussion.

Some great plays will be covered with thought-provoking content, challenging characterisation and interesting dramatic techniques.

The first delight will be Christopher Fry’s verse romantic comedy The Lady’s Not for Burning, written in 1948.

Acclaimed at the time as the triumphant return of verse to the British stage, it is full of entertaining characters, poetry both lyrical and amusing, and paradoxes of life and death – all in a lightly sketched medieval setting.

Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday at 13.30.
